Our Story
A Scranton tradition since 1923, Coney Island Lunch has been a staple of Lackawanna Avenue for more than a century. Nationally recognized for serving one of America’s best-tasting hot dogs, Coney Island is proudly home to the Original Texas Wiener recipe that has kept generations of customers coming back.

For nearly 50 years, brothers Pete and Bob Ventura carried on the Coney Island tradition, dedicating decades to the restaurant and becoming an important part of its story and the Scranton community.
Now part of Basalyga Hospitality, Coney Island Lunch begins its next chapter with the same commitment to the tradition that made it a local icon. We are proud to preserve its history, continue serving the original recipe, and welcome both longtime customers and a new generation through our doors.
